The Birmingham Hammerfest fueled by Gatorade Zero is returning to Birmingham March 12 – 13, 2022. Professional cycling teams from all over the US will be racing through the streets of Pepper Place in downtown Birmingham. This exciting, fast-paced criterium racing is not just for the pros. Amateurs, juniors and hand cyclists will be tackling the same course and putting their skills to the test.
This special weekend includes something for all ages with a Kids Zone, Community Hour, Lil’ Shamrock fun ride, best-dressed contests for prizes and more. Don’t miss all the festivities in Pepper Place!
Hammerfest has teamed up with Lakeshore Foundation, a 501©3 non-profit organization with a mission to encourage and provide opportunities for people with disability to live a healthy lifestyle through activity, research, advocacy, and health promotion. The 2022 event will include a handcycling race on Saturday as well as the inclusion of handcycles on Sunday. The Hammer Ride on Sunday, March 13 offers two FREE rides for cyclists. Beginning and ending at Cahaba Brewing, cyclists will have the option of a 30-mile or 60-mile race or ride. Riders are encouraged to fundraise with 100% of rider-raised dollars going to support Lakeshore Foundation.
